Humanitarian Compassion or Political Moment? - New international research project

Simon Turner is part of an international research project that has received funding (€ 265,000) from the French National Research Agency (ANR). The project – BABELS (Border Analysis and Border Ethnographies in Liminal Situations) – explores the relationship between migrants and cities (as frontiers and as nodes of crisis) across Europe, and is under the leadership of Prof. Michel Agier, EHESS, Paris. Simon Turner will contribute with a study of civil society groups in Denmark such as Venligboerne, exploring whether they are merely exhibiting humanitarian compassion or may be perceived as ‘political moments’.
