AMIS Culture Club, Film screening: Dirty Pretty Things by Stephen Frears

Kamel Benkaaba (Department for Media, Cognition and Communication) will introduce the film, and lead the discussion following it. In Dirty Pretty Things we meet Okwe, a kind-hearted Nigerian physician, who must constantly escape from Immigration officers. One day Okwe discovers by chance that an illegal scheme of surgeries is being led by his boss in the hotel in which he is illegally employed. His boss quickly comes up with a tempting proposal: if Okwe accepts to perform the illegal surgeries, he will make a lot of money and receive a legal permit to stay in the U.K.
