AMIS roundtable: Is Danish Research on Islam and Muslims Critical Enough?
This roundtable will discuss the recurring critiques raised against scholars working on Islam and Muslims in Denmark that they are tendentious in their approach to the object of study. Are scholars neglecting the existence of problematic interpretations of Islam
among Danish Muslims? Has there been a tendency to downplay the role and importance of religious texts and religious authorities when explaining actions and attitudes among Muslims? And does the often favored approach to Muslims as a minority living within a secular or Christian majority context have problematic questions
for the results that researchers present?
