New book chapter published by Dr. Lemberg-Pedersen

Lemberg-Pedersen has authored the chapter "Losing the right to have rights" in the new anthology "Europe and the Americas. Transnational approaches to human rights", published by Brill, and edited by Eva Marie Lassen and Erik André Andersen. The chapter conducts a trace of the European idea of "protection elsewhere" and how this during the 2000s was linked up with ideas of externalized protection and asylum processing through Protected Entry/Exit and Regional Protection Programmes in Northern Africa. It then proceeds to detail how this humanitarian agenda was co-opted by political priority to avoid asylum seekers arriving at European territory, and thus how the "protection elsewhere"-agenda fed into the Italian and EU-collaboration on push backs and detention in Libya with the Gaddafi-regime.
